What is a Slot?
A slot is a slit or narrow opening, usually in a wall or door, through which something can pass.
In the case of a slot in a machine, this might refer to the space in which a coin can be dropped into. It could also mean the position of a reel on a machine.
The slot property, part of the Offer Management API, is used to configure a slot in ATG. It allows you to set a variety of properties that affect the behavior of your slot, including the number of resources it will consume and how long it will remain occupied.
When someone sees another player win a jackpot that should’ve been theirs, it’s easy to assume that the winning machine was “due.” However, there is no such thing as a “due” slot; every time the random-number generator receives a signal (whether it be from the button being pressed or the handle being pulled), it sets a new sequence of numbers. Each sequence has a different probability of appearing on the physical reels. The odds of any particular symbol occupying a stop on the reels are based on the number of times that symbol has appeared in the past.
